Speaking of Porn...

Aren't we just swimming in it? Seems so, and I'm a little tired of being told that only certain forms of it are evil. I am especially pissed-off by the pompous clowns who make distinctions among the myriad porn-forms who also dabble in the worst sort of it for the sake of manipulation.

I am talking about the censors and self-appointed guardians of our prurient interests who indirectly guide the masses down the garden path to doomsday. These are the same tools on TV and in various levels of power who fine the shit out of Howard Stern for saying "poop" on the radio, and slap a warning label on a music CD, or bleep out the word "fuck" but leave the word "nigger" in a showing of Do the Right Thing (it happened; I saw it) while preaching that "freedom" is worth killing and dying for...or those fucks who tell us that using marijuana or discarded feti for medical purposes is tantamount to mortal sin and/or murder, while preaching the "humane" nature of our war tactics (Rumsfeld said it) which kill or injure thousands of innocents. These phonies also have no problem gratuitously exploiting the gruesome death of Christ (et tu Mel Gibson and Jerry Falwell) for their own benfit. Question: how the hell can the PREORDAINED death of one man, who KNEW HE WAS GOD and who would soon be returning to Paradise, be anywhere near as inspiring as those of the millions and millions of innocent and very MORTAL people since who have been butchered, hung, shot, electrocuted...REMOVED, very often in His name? Somebody help me here.

In any case, I love Die Hard. One of my favorite escape flicks. It is a work of sublime pulp beauty in some ways, and a nice period piece in others. I also consider the edited versions seen on TNT, AMC, or TBS to be porn. Why? Because editing out the curses, etc. while leaving in the gruesome violence and rah-rah indivdualistic humor speaks to the very nature of porn, which is to display one thing to the exclusion of all else. Skin flicks which show smoking hot girl-on-girl or MMMMF-DVDA action without ever touching the repercussions of that action are just the tip (he said "tip"!) of the iceburg when it comes to porn. Ever read a good porno script? No, you haven't. Why? Because there are none. I imagine that every single one of them reads something like "Girl #1 enters room. girl #2 walks out of shower and looks surprised at first... Fucking and sucking ensue". This is no accident. It is done purposely because sex without context subverts your sensibilities and goes directly to the core of your pleasure zone for a few minutes of hyper-stimulation. You are then "high" and will be ready to buy more once you cum and "Ass Drill IV" becomes too familiar...too REAL. You will then need imaginary Girl#3 and #4 and #5 ad infinitum. Same, same for drugs, religion...and flowers. Yep, flowers in a vase trimmed and nicely presented are a form of porn, too. Why? No Dirt. You get all the pretty and none of the mess. This is what the politicians, preachers and talking heads use to exploit you, too- pretty righteousness, no messy humanity.

The mouths speak without hearing and present glorious images of heaven, a "moral" America, patriotism, apple pie... a beautiful, white, heterosexual world where everybody kneels at church on Sunday... and who sign up unquestioningly to serve at the first sign of a brown, muslim, commie-homo invasion. But they never mention the dirt. They don't talk about human nature beyond categorizing it as "good" or "evil". They don't talk about working within the context of our f'd up selves. They don't talk about what IS- only what SHOULD BE. They ignore the real and dabble only in the meta-real. This is how "they" get away with "it", how they manage to have a war without tax increases or any fiscal, moral, or managerial accountability. It's how a gay pedophile senator can come to run the Department of Children or whatever. It is how they do it and make people think it's a great idea. It's how they get the midwesterners to vote against their own best interests, kids to go out and buy ringtones (?!), women to buy breast implants and makeup, and fans to go to ballgames.

They do it by batardizing the milieu (when they can't remove it entirely), by creating curb appeal while the foundation rots, by placing you in a context-less vacuum while your better instincts asphyxiate. They tickle your erogenous zone until you wax a patriotic, religious, greedy lustiness... and they slowly drive the shaft home.

Ad infinitum.
