Don't know the first two....but I *totally* agree with the last - I *love* Gene Hackman!
His cartoon Lex Luthor also made me crack up in the original 'Superman.' (Obsrving Ned Beatty's perambulations back to the den, he notes: 'It never fails to amaze me that brain can generate enough power to walk...') I've always thought his comic potential (dry disdain) hasn't been fully exploited yet.
Could I add ('Do you like gladiator movies?')'Airplane?' It's something of a cult fave chez nous. Robert Stack's 'John Wayne' passage through the airport is completely hysterical, especially when he takes a pop at the Hari Krishnas.... and who could fail to laugh at the Staying Alive 'waterfront' scene? It's a comic classic.
'Caddyshack?' I might have caught this on the tube, but I'm not sure. I'll check it out. I think Chevy Chase can be extremely funny, but it depends on the material. I loved his Munich beer fest dance in the National Lampoon. The 'tension scene' on the train (Mom, Dad and the kids each displaying unique ways of dealing with their frustration) was also hilarious in the 'Yurpeen' vacation lampoon.
Any more recommendations?
